Laura Varney is a FS2 trainer specializing in weight loss, body sculpting, strength training and HIIT. Laura started playing tennis at the age of 8 with USTA and continued through high school. She also picked up a love for volleyball, which she played in high school and on intramural teams at Florida State University. After graduating with a BA in Communication Studies from FSU, Laura coached a tennis camp for youth in Atlanta, GA and later moved to Los Angeles to earn her graduate degree in Journalism from the University of Southern California.
After graduating, Laura worked in public relations and continued freelance writing, but fitness always seemed to be a focus. She started researching fitness and nutrition, and decided to compete in the National Physique Committee's Bikini Division. After taking 2nd place in her first competition and becoming nationally qualified, she knew fitness was where she wanted to dedicate her career.
Laura prefers to include a variety of workouts in her regimen including hiking, strength training, yoga, Pilates, kickboxing and running. One of her philosophies is, "As soon as your body starts to adapt, change the routine and challenge it."
Before joining FS2, Laura worked for Equinox Westwood as a personal trainer. She is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as a personal trainer, and is currently studying for her ISSA Sports Nutrition Coach Certification. She is also the founder of Peach Pop Fashion, and online boutique for women's fitness apparel (www.peachpopfashion.com).
